About LyLena

LyLena D. Estabine, originally from Olathe, Kansas, is a senior at Harvard studying sociology with a specialization in data analytics. Her research spans urban sociology, education, institutional efficacy, and community engagement. "Shaping Chicago," her senior honors thesis, delves into how ownership and trust influence engagement between residents, community organizers, and planners in the creation of the city's physical environment. At Harvard, LyLena helped lead the initiative to write and implement a new, more inclusive student government, the Harvard Undergraduate Association (HUA), and served as the Student Body Co-President in its inaugural year. She is a contributing member of The Salient, Harvard's only conservative newspaper and an undergraduate fellow at the Harvard Catholic Forum. Her work has been recognized with honors such as admittance to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and the 2022 Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for Public Service.
